Natural gas & propane piping systems

CORTEX builds, rehabilitates and maintains piping and pipeline networks for natural gas, propane (LPG) and other industrial fluids. We cover the full scope — design, supply, installation, commissioning and long-term maintenance — on both buried and above-ground assets.

Most of our work is for industrial, energy and oil & gas clients, and a large share of it takes place in ATEX-classified zones, which shapes the way we plan and execute every job.

What we actually do on site

  1. Supply and installation of steel and HDPE pipelines
  2. Maintenance and rehabilitation of existing gas networks, including replacement of corroded sections
  3. Replacement of steel lines with HDPE on low- and medium-pressure distribution networks
  4. Industrial welding and pipe prefabrication
  5. Anticorrosion coatings — FBE (hot-applied) and 3LPE (three-layer polyethylene)
  6. Industrial painting and cathodic protection for buried and above-ground assets
  7. Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing, plus integrity inspections
  8. Underground utility detection, network marking and as-built drawing updates

Underground utility detection

You don’t want to dig blind on a brownfield site. Before excavation, we map what’s already in the ground — both dry networks (gas, power, telecoms) and wet ones (water, sewage), whether metallic or HDPE.

The deliverable is straightforward: a clean site marking your crews can work from, and updated drawings you can keep on file.

Standards and compliance

Our work follows the international and European codes that apply to gas piping:

  1. ASME B31.3 — Process piping
  2. ASME B31.4 — Pipeline transportation systems for liquids (liquid propane)
  3. ASME B31.8 — Gas transmission and distribution piping
  4. API 1104 — Welding of pipelines and related facilities
  5. EN 13480 — Metallic industrial piping
  6. EN 1594 — Gas supply pipelines (MOP > 16 bar)
  7. EN 1555 — Plastics piping systems for gaseous fuels — polyethylene (PE)
  8. EN 12007 — Gas distribution networks (MOP ≤ 16 bar)
  9. NF EN 12732 — Welding of steel pipelines for gas supply
  10. NF EN ISO 9606 — Welder qualification
  11. ISO 3183 — Steel pipes for pipeline transportation
  12. PED 2014/68/EU — Pressure Equipment Directive
